It’s a Type of Role Play
Whereas age regression refers to regressing into little headspace, age play refers to a type of role play where a person pretends to be an age other than what they really are. These are two very different but sometimes complimentary things. In DD/lg age play involves the little going deeper into little space by behaving the way that a child would. Although, such behavior might also be a symptom of the age regression rather than the cause, in which case it’s not so much role play as part of the little’s personality.
It’s Not Inherently Part of CG/l or DD/lg, and Not Exclusive to Those Dynamics
Age play in general does not have to mean playing a younger age, as we see it in DD/lg. The age being played could also be an older age than your real age. Age play is not exclusive to DD/lg and not all CG/l or DD/lg relationships contain age play. Age play is a role play activity that may or may not be part of those types of relationships. Role play of any sort, including age play, can also take place within “vanilla” (non-BDSM) relationships. Role play isn’t something that falls under the umbrella of BDSM. Lots of vanilla couples also engage in role play, and that might include role play of this sort.
Age Play is Very Different from Incest Play or Pedophilia Play
The age being played can be any age, even 10,000 years old if you’d like, it does not have to be child age at all. Age play just means pretending to be a different age, it does not necessarily mean that you have sex while you are role playing a different age either. If you are role playing the age of a child, and not having sex while doing so, obviously that has nothing to do with incest or pedophilia. Also, having sex while age regressed is very different than having sex while role playing. One is a state of mind, whereas one is a matter of acting.
Age Play Activities
Before I get into listing various activities that may take place within age play, I’d just like to point out that some of these activities may also take place outside of age play. Engaging in a particular activity does not mean you are age playing. Doing so specifically for the purpose of playing a role (in the context of DD/lg, a little playing the role of a child) is what makes it age play. As an example, adult coloring books have become popular and many adults like to color, that obviously does not mean that those people are pretending to be a child. An adult might also sleep with a stuffed animal (or “stuffie”) and again that does not by itself mean they are pretending to be a child. With that understood, here are some activities that might be included in age play:
- Talking like a child or like a baby, depending on the age being played
- Dressing like a child or like a baby (could include onesies and diapers)
- Thumb sucking
- Sucking on a pacifier
- Sucking on a lollipop
- Coloring or drawing with crayons
- Sidewalk chalk
- Playing with toys intended for children
- Playing with stickers
- Playing with and/or sleeping with stuffed animals
- Making a blanket fort
- Watching cartoons or animated movies
- Taking bubble baths
- Having a tea party
- Visiting child-oriented places
